NICDTF Drug Misuse Trends and Behaviour Survey

NICDTF are currently conducting an online survey on Drug Misuse Trends and Behaviour within the North Inner City Drugs Task Force Region.

This survey is aimed at Drug services and Youth or Community organisations who work with anyone who is affected by drug misuse, either personally or within their community.

One-day Sexual Health Workshop

To provide participants with basic up-to-date and relevant information on sexual health, including HIV, STIs and Hepatitis.

HSE National Lottery Grants

The Health Service Executive has been allocated National Lottery Funding for distribution to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the following terms:

1. Respite Care Grant Scheme
2. National Lottery Grant Scheme

Applications are invited from groups and organisations involved in the provision of Health and Personal Social Services for once off funding for viable projects (non major capital projects) which can be completed within a reasonable period of time:

ASIST Applied Suicide Invention Skills Training Workshop

The Deora Project, 15th-16 MAY, 2012 (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Venue The Oasis Centre, St. Laurence’s Place East, Dublin 1

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two-day, intensive interactive and practice-based workshop, designed to help caregivers recognize risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. It is suitable for all kinds of caregivers - health workers, key-workers, teachers, community workers, Gardaí, youth workers, volunteers, people responding to family, friends and co-workers.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy: (MBCT)

An eight week programme for people who suffer from chronic depression and sadness and want to develop skilful ways to prevent relapse.

Starts: Thursday, 5th July, 2.30pm-4.30pm
Venue The Oasis Centre, St. Laurence’s Place East, Dublin 1

Mindfulness means learning to pay attention intentionally, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. It helps you become familiar with the workings of your mind, and helps you
to notice the times when you are at risk of getting caught in old habits of mind that re-activate downward mood spirals and, if you choose, enter a different way of being.

BeLonG To Youth Services LGBT Awareness Training

BeLonG To Youth Services run one day training sessions on the subject of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender young people.

Topics Covered Will Include:
  • LGBT terminology and issues
  • Current research on Irish LGBT young people
  • How to support young people coming out
  • Challenging homophobic language and bullying
  • How to make your school or youth service safe for LGBT young people

The training will use a mix of presentation, case studies, roleplay, excercises, group work etc. and would be idea for anyone who works with young people or has an interest in this area.
